Mr. Trumpy has been the Director of Bands at Bernards High School for the past 28 years. His responsibilities include directing the award-winning jazz ensemble, concert band, wind ensemble, and pit orchestra along with instructing music technology. Mr.Trumpy’s ensembles have had the opportunity to tour throughout the United States and Europe including Prague, Czech Republic, Salzburg, Austria, Dresden, Germany and the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. Mr. Trumpy has developed a music technology curriculum which nurtures creative thinking through project-based learning in digital audio sequencing, audio mixing, and processing, music theory, composition, sound design and music history. Over 200 students are enrolled annually in the music technology and band program at Bernards High School.
Mr. Trumpy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from Glassboro State College (Rowan University) and a Masters degree in Music Technology: digital music pedagogy from Duquesne University. Mr. Trumpy is a New Jersey Governors Teacher of the Year recipient, National Honor Society honorary faculty inductee and Student Council Teacher of the Year honoree. He is an Alumni and former brass instructor of the 10-time world champion Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, is certified by TI:ME (Technology Institute for Music Educators) and is a member of the New Jersey Music Educators Association and the Jazz Education Network.
Jason Snyder: (email@example.com) Assistant Marching Band Director, Bernards Middle School Band Director
Mr. Snyder is the Director of Bands Grades 5-8 and the Jazz Ensemble at Bernardsville Middle School. He is also the director of the 4th Grade Band at Bedwell Elementary School and is the Assistant Director for the Bernards High School Marching Band. Mr. Snyder has been teaching in the Somerset Hills School District since 2005. Mr. Snyder‘s 8th Grade Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble are annual participants in the High Note Music Festivals in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where both groups earned excellent and superior ratings.
Mr. Snyder earned his Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware and his Master’s of Music in Music Education degree from the prestigious Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. He held the lead trumpet position of both jazz ensembles while he attended the University of Delaware and held the lead trumpet position in one of the jazz ensembles at Rutgers University. Mr. Snyder is an accomplished trumpet player and has performed at various venues such as Shea Stadium in Flushing, New York, The RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana and The Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City.
Scott LeFurge: (slefurge
Mr. LeFurge has worked with the Bernards High School Marching Band since 1990. He became the Color Guard Instructor in 2005. He has been teaching Instrumental and General Music in nearby Bedminster Township School for the past 28 years, where he has been an integral part of the music program. Scott Lefurge is excited to continue to be a part of the BHS Marching Band Staff. Mr. Lefurge enjoys working with the talented students from Bernards and Bedminster in the Color Guard and in the Band. Scott Lefurge would like to thank his wonderful wife, Rosalie, for her love and unending support, and his sons Zachary and Jeremy, for their support and assistance throughout the Marching Band Season.
